AUTOMATIC RELAY TEST EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE

The MPRT System is comprised of:
• The ‘Power Box’
• The TouchView Interface (TVI)
• AVTS Software
The ‘Power Box’ is the heart of the system. It employs a variety of new features including unique Voltage and Current Generator (VI-Gen) components which have been combined into one amplifier package. Using multiple Vi-Gens provides the flexibility to deliver four voltages and four currents or eight current channel capability. The MPRT ‘Power Box’ also incorporates four communication ports, a new Constant Power Output (CPO) capability and every one is made-to-order based on each customer’s individual testing requirements.

The TouchView Interface (TVI) device and AVTS Basic Software form the brains of the system. The TVI, with its large full color touch screen allows the user to perform manual and semi-automatic testing quickly and easily, using built-in, preset test routines for most popular relays. Fully automatic testing can also be performed using AVTS Basic Software which comes with the MPRT System.

   AVTS Software ADVANCED VISUAL TEST SOFTWARE

Megger introduces the next generation of automated relay testing software - AVTS, Advanced Visual Test Software. AVTS is the culmination of over 16 years of automatic relay testing experience. It is a totally new concept in relay testing software. AVTS is a new Microsoft Windows® 95/98/NT software program designed to manage all aspects of protective relay testing using the PULSAR Universal Test Set.
The graphical user interface is the most powerful, yet easy to use feature of AVTS. Most tests can be built graphically without the use of traditional programming.

• Test Module Wizard makes creating a new test easy.
• No programming skills required.
• Import PulseMaster test files to run in the new AVTS test environment.
• Scan into AVTS a time current curve or any relay characteristic and verify Pass/Fail operation against that characteristic.
• View and replay Digital Fault Recordings or EMTP/ATP simulations that are in the COMTRADE file format.

 

AVTS Relay Test Modules

A demonstration file for download showing how a module really works is now available to any customer who already has AVTS software by clicking on the Presentations link after clicking HERE. 

The demonstration file contains one test from each of the following relay test modules:
• Schweitzer 321 Impedance Relay
• Westinghouse CO-9 Time Overcurrent Relay
• GE CEY51A Distance Relay

 

It is anticipated that over 100 different modules will be developed in the near future. These modules have been designed to test a particular relay to the manufacturer's tolerance specifications and acceptance test procedures.

The SR-98 is the newest addition to the long, successful line of Megger "SR" series, like the SR-51, SR-76 and SR-90 relay tests. With almost 50 years of relay testing experience, the SR-98 incorporates the latest in Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and microprocessor-based technology to provide a powerful, easy to use relay test set.


The SR-98 is a multipurpose, lightweight, field portable test set capable of testing a wide variety of electromechanical, solid-state and microprocessor-based protective relays, small molded case circuit breakers, motor overload relays and similar protective devices.

The SR-98 incorporates a large, easy to read LCD display, which shows AC and DC Amperes, AC and DC Volts, and Time in both Seconds and Cycles. Depending on the type of test selected, other values may be displayed, such as Ohms, Watts, VARS, Phase Angle, Frequency or Power Factor. Metered quantities such as AC Amperes, AC Volts, DC Volts or DC Amperes, and Time are simultaneously displayed on the screen. The read-and-hold metering feature provides a fast and accurate preset of test values.

A relay specific test screen is included in the menu list. The user simply selects the type of relay to be tested and a test screen is provided that displays all necessary functions needed to test that particular type of relay. For example, the SR-98 can test single-phase impedance relays.

SPECIALIZED MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

   PMM-1 Multi-function Measuring Instrument

Simultaneous measurement and display of all three-phase system parameters
• Accurate phase angle measurement at low current levels
• Versatile, menu-driven instrument with a built-in timer and data-logging

 

The PMM-1 is a portable, battery or line operated, multi-function measuring instrument designed to measure ac primary and secondary currents, voltage power, reactive power, phase angle and frequency of single and three-phase systems. A high speed recording feature can capture starting currents of three-phase motors. All measured values are displayed on a large easy-to-read graphic display. RS-232 data and parallel printer ports are provided.
